Our simple promise

noisemeter.co helps you measure and compare everyday sound levels in your browser. We don’t ask you to create an account, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t store your microphone recordings. The meter works locally on your device; once you close the page, the session ends.

What we process when you use the meter

• Microphone access (with your permission only): Your browser will ask you to allow microphone use. The audio signal is processed in real time to estimate sound level (dB). We do not upload or save your audio.
• Basic device info from your browser: things like screen size or language, used to render the page correctly.
• Ad-related cookies: we show ads via Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads. See “Advertising & cookies” below for your choices.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, passwords, or sign-ins.
• No raw audio recordings saved on our servers.
• No precise location tracking from us (your browser may infer region for ads if you’ve allowed it elsewhere).

Advertising & cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to keep the tool free. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. These cookies help limit repetitive ads, measure performance, and improve relevance.

Note: if you block all cookies, you’ll still see ads—just less tailored.

Children’s privacy

noisemeter.co is a general-audience site. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information here, please contact us and we’ll remove it.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server may keep minimal logs (e.g., error diagnostics, aggregate traffic counts) to maintain reliability and security. These logs don’t include your audio and aren’t used to build a profile of you.

Data retention

We don’t store your audio. Any ad or cookie data is governed by the providers’ own retention rules. If you email us, we’ll keep that correspondence as long as needed to handle your request.

• Microphone: use your browser’s address-bar icon to revoke mic permission at any time.
